On August 11, 2021, the Government of Canada announced that it is collaborating with the provinces and territories to develop a proof of vaccination that will ease cross-border travel providing COVID-19 background information of travelers.

As a more reliable and secure way to demonstrate travelers' COVID-19 vaccination history to foreign and Canadian border officials, proof of vaccination credentials will also provide border officials with the vaccination history that they need to assess whether a traveler meets public health requirements and provide a trusted and verifiable credential for when they return home.

Coming back to Canada, travelers will have to submit their proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN.
