On July 8, 2021, Canada updated instructions for the Oath of Citizenship.

The Government added a link to the updated Oath of Citizenship, which now refers to Aboriginal and treaty rights of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

Accessibility information for persons who are unable to sign the Oath of Citizenship form is also provided.

In addition, according to the new regulations, for applicants who have been granted citizenship and located outside of Canada, the Oath of Citizenship is allowed to be administered by a foreign service officer.

Instructions also clarify language priority for administering the Oath of Citizenship.
