On June 24, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry invitation round. In round #153, Canada issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence to 392 candidates, where the Comprehensive Ranking System score dropped by 47 points. All invited candidates were eligible for the Provincial Nominee Program, and no Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades candidates have been invited. The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System score in this draw was 696 points. The tie-breaking rule for this round was APRIL 23, 2020, at 10:39:30 UTC. IRCC has also updated the breakdown table of the CRS score distribution of candidates in the Express Entry pool.

Candidates whose profile is already in the Express Entry pool, and received a notification of interest from a Canadian Province to apply for the PNP, can submitt their application to the Provincial Nominee Program PNP. They will receive a PNP nomination certificate that will add to their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking Scores SRC 600 points. This will allow the candidate to receive an ITA for the Permanent residence application.

IRCC has been holding Express Entry rounds for PNP and CEC targeting candidates with provincial nominations since March 2020. This comes with the reality that Canada closed its border in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
