BC PNP issued new invitations while excluding some occupations

On March 30, 2020, British Columbia finally conducted a new draw in the Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). At the same time, as a result of the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the provincial economy, the government has excluded the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS) category from this draw. In addition, BCPNP excluded other tourism, hospitality and retail-related occupations as well as occupations where BCPNP experienced a high volume of applications: 0621 - Retail and wholesale trade managers, 0631 - Restaurant and food service managers, 0632 - Accommodation service managers, 0651 - Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c., 1123 - Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations, 1221 - Administrative officers, 1241 - Administrative assistants, 3236 - Massage therapists, 6211 - Retail sales supervisors, 6311 - Food service supervisors, 6313 - Accommodation, travel, tourism and related services supervisors, 6321 – Chefs, 6322 - Cooks, and 6341 - Hairstylists and barbers. In this round, BCPNP invited 311 candidates. The lowest scores in the categories decreased for several points:

  • Skills Immigration - Skilled Worker 102
  • Skills Immigration - International Graduate 102 (-4 points)
  • Express Entry British Columbia - Skilled Worker 105 (-5 points)
  • Express Entry British Columbia - International Graduate 102 (-8 points)

British Columbia invited 1,950 candidates to apply for the nomination of the province in 2020.
